The Town of Lake City and Hinsdale County established The Hinsdale County Regional Library District by joint resolution in 1979. The library doing business as the Lake City/John Wagner Public Library is a taxing district and collects tax revenues at the rate of 1.75 Mills, this generates $97,696. For the next 3 years the library district also has a capital facility district which generates $50,410. The $50, 410 goes directly to pay for our new facility. Other funding sources are donations, grants and special projects. In 1995 the  Friends of the John Wagner Library group was formed and has become an invaluable support and service provider for the library.

We offer a large collection of books, books on CD,large print books, DVDs, periodicals, interlibrary loan services, 24 hour WiFi, 4 public access computers, fax and copy machines,  meeting space, summer reading and literacy tutoring.
