The Town of Lake City and Hinsdale County established The Hinsdale County Regional Library District by joint resolution in 1979. The library doing business, as the Lake City/ John Wagner Public Library was then located in the living room of what is now the Cinnamon Inn . The library collection totaled 239, locally owned books and had 100 registered borrowers. The library now located in the Kennedy Building in Historic Downtown Lake City has over 14,000 print volumes, and over 3000 registered borrowers.

The library is open year around Monday – Friday, 1:00 – 5:00.

We offer a large and varied collection of books, large print books, audio books, periodicals, DVDS and videos. We provide two public access computers and 24/7 WIFI access.
